The Erlangen Centre for Astroparticle Physics (ECAP) of the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Germany, invites applications for the position of a
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d)
in the field of multi-messenger and neutrino astronomy. The successful candidate will work in the ECAP KM3NET group in the context of the ESCAPE scientific consortium and EOSC-FUTURE Science Projects, which aim to bring together new scientific findings as well as the data and analysis software of a number of major world-class projects in particle and astroparticle physics on a common science platform.
Within ESCAPE, two large “Test Science Projects” (TSPs) will be deployed to demonstrate new cutting-edge science capabilities, in particular those involving cross experiment collaboration and science outcomes and to validate, on behalf of the science communities, the open-science solutions developed within ESCAPE:
The successful candidate is expected to work within both TSPs, providing the KM3NeT instrument response functions for cross-experiment analyses of astrophysical neutrino signals, starting with WIMP dark matter signals and AGN neutrino emission signals. Especially combined searches with gravitational wave detectors and gamma-ray observatories will be established within the EOSC frame.
Activities
A PhD in astroparticle physics or neighbouring fields is required.
Desirable competences:
FAU strives to promote professional equality for women and men; women are therefore explicitly encouraged to apply. Severely disabled applicants with essentially identical qualifications will be considered with preference.
The full-time position is open for application until filled, but at least until 25/06/2021. The expected start is 01/10/2021 for a duration of two years. A possible extension depends on the availability of further funds. The contract is expected to be in salary grade TV-L E13. Please contact Kay Graf (kay.graf@fau.de) for further details.
Please send your application, including your CV with publication list, as well as scans of your academic certificates by email to kay.graf@fau.de. Please indicate names of possible referees but do not yet arrange for reference letters to be sent.
