Born in Paris suburbs in 1957 I got a PHD in Astronomy in Marseilles in 1986. The title of my thesis was "Optical study of the NGC 6946 spiral galaxy". After a post doc in Heidleberg (MPIA) I started to work at CDS (Observatoire astronomique de Strasbourg) at the end of 1987 as an IT engineer.
I have been working for the development of the Simbad database and chaired the first steps of the Aladin project development in the 1990s. Since more than twenty years I have been strongly involved in the development of the Virtual Observatory at the international level through active participation in theIVOA. I am the co-author of a lot of IVOA specifications of standards and notes and acted as vice-chair and chair of the Data Access layer working group during five years. I am currently (2020-?) the vice-chair of the radio astronomy interest group of the IVOA.
