Mark Kettenis is software project scientist at JIVE, working on all aspects of processing of VLBI data. Mark got his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Amsterdam in 2001 and joined JIVE in 2004 after a brief period working as an IT professional. Mark is a member of the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration, which did win the 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for publishing the first image a supermassive black hole.
