This pivotal agreement marks a significant step forward in our collective mission to enhance scientific data management and open science at both national and international levels.

  • ESCAPE Open Collaboration: A prominent initiative under the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) umbrella, ESCAPE (European Science Cluster of Astronomy & Particle physics ESFRI research infrastructures) aims to create a seamless environment for the discovery and analysis of scientific data across Europe.
  • PUNCH4NFDI Consortium: Part of Germany's National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), PUNCH4NFDI is dedicated to the creation of a federated data infrastructure for particle, astroparticle, hadron &  nuclear physics and astronomy.

 

Possibilities and Objectives:

The collaboration between ESCAPE and PUNCH4NFDI heralds a new era of cooperation and innovation, setting the stage for the development of a robust national and cluster node within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The primary objectives of this partnership include:

  1. ENHANCED DATA INTEROPERABILITY: Leveraging the combined expertise and infrastructure of ESCAPE and PUNCH4NFDI to ensure seamless access and FAIRness of scientific data across various research domains and geographical boundaries.
  2. COMBINED NATIONAL AND CLUSTER NODE FOR EOSC: Creating a specialized cluster semantic node that supports the unique data needs of the astronomy and astrophysics, the particle, hadron, and nuclear physics communities, facilitating advanced research and collaboration on an international scale, while collaborating with a dedicated national node within Germany that aligns with the broader goals of the EOSC, providing researchers with an integrated platform for data sharing, storage, and analysis.
  3. SHARED EXPERTISE: Pooling expertise to develop cutting-edge tools and services that will enhance the scientific capabilities of both ESCAPE and PUNCH4NFDI, ultimately contributing to the global scientific community.
  4. STRATEGIC COLLABORATION: Strengthening strategic collaboration between European and German research infrastructures, fostering a culture of open science and innovation.
