The Leibniz-Institut for Solar Physics (Kiepenheuer Institut für Sonnenphysik – KIS) conducts basic research in Astronomy and Astrophysics with a focus on solar physics. It is also a known developer of state-of-the art instrumentation and operates the German solar telescopes at Teide Observatory on Tenerife (Spain), including GREGOR, the largest solar telescope in Europe. Plus, KIS conducts experimental and theoretical investigations of physical processes on and within the Sun.
