ESCAPE project is presented at the RUCIO community workshop that will be held in FNAL (IL, US) this week (10 to 12th of March). Aris Fkiaras from the ESCAPE Data Infrastructure for Open Science (DIOS) Workpackage will be presenting  to the worldwide RUCIO community the ESCAPE datalake pilot whose data management orchestrator is RUCIO.

Rucio is a software framework that provides functionality to organize, manage, and access large volumes of scientific data using customisable policies.

The data management requirements of the ESCAPE data lake prototype should address exabyte scale storage and follow the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Re-usable). To fulfil those requirements significant R&D is foreseen with regards to data orchestration, management and access and Rucio will be used as a reference implementation. We are therefore contributing to the Rucio development, integration and commissioning effort, particularly for the functionalities needed by the ESCAPE partners. We are presenting our work done within the DIOS package in ESCAPE at the RUCIO community workshop together with other particle physics communities also using RUCIO, e.g. DUNE, LHC and Belle-II.
